Tom P opens for TOO $HORT at the A3C Festival
Atlanta rapper Tom P returns to the A3C hip hop festival for the fifth year. This year he opened for rap legend Too Short and up and comer Problem on one of the main stages of the festival. Tom P has also opened up for artists like Raekwon, Big Krit and Mac Miller at the Atlanta A3C festival. Tom P rocks 2nd Annual BET HIP HOP AWARDS pre-show concert w/ Mixtape Atlas
Tom P performs live at the BET HIP HOP AWARDS Pre-Show Concert with other up and coming rap talent from the city. Tom P was listed as a headliner, unsurprising due to the buzzing MC recently winning "best hip hop act" in the city and recent shows with MGK, Techn9ne and a headlining performance with Too Short at the A3C. Jarren Bentons album release party
Local Atlanta rapper Jarren Benton had his album release party at the 529 and invited Tom P to share his headlining set. They rocked their song "Fuck that Shit" off Jarren's new album "Huffing Glue with Hasselhoff" and then Tom P did a few tracks off his up coming project "Root for the Underdog." Watch the video here >

Tom P and Paul T rock a sorority house party (for the hundredth time)
We got invited to rock a sorority party. We actually were doing a lot of this kind of thing around this time but there's no reason to clutter up a press kit with 25 frat/sorority type parties. So I'll just use this one to represent the time period. I remember it well. We performed from on top of a balcony, looking down at the crowd. Here's a photo we snapped of that. Might be the only photo from this period of time that I can find.

Tom P performs at "Perfect Attendance Stage" at The A3C Festival.
The A3C is the largest hip hop festival in the South East. This marks our second year being part of the festival and we moved up a bit in rank. This year we rocked Fadia Kader's stage (now works for Complex Magazine) some other cats who rocked the same stage that weekend were Rittz and Mac Miller. Crazy, thinking back… It was a good night.
Tom P opens up for FREDDIE GIBBS and Jackie Chain in Atlanta
After having a bunch of successful shows at the Spring4th center, they began hitting us up whenever they had rappers coming through to perform. The XXL Freshman issue had recently dropped and featured the 10 rappers most likely to blow up that year. One of which was a cat from India named Freddie Gibbs. Usually my friends and I would go give all 10 of the rappers their proper listen to learn, size up competition and find the one's we liked. Freddie Gibbs was definitely one of our favorites from that year. When we found out we could open up for him we did our best to spread his name around Atlanta to get people out to the shoe. Unfortunately, Atlanta is not known for its huge support of underground rap from outside of the city (there is ENOUGH local underground acts to support here.) Anyway, a good amount of our fans rolled through and the ones who stuck around definitely dug Freddie Gibbs show. It also led to us building a relationship with his manager and more shows with him in the future.

Tom P on SMKA's STARGAZING TOUR
The Stargazing Tour was a city-wide tour of performances put on by SMKA and Whynatte. They tried booking the top local talent and even a few headline acts to perform at venues across Atlanta. This was the show we rocked at the familiar venue, Star Bar. This was before Jarren Benton had taken off and at the time being Vonnegutt was signed with Big Boi's label "Purple Ribbon" and were slowly gaining a buzz inside the city plus touring with some larger names.

Tom P rocks The Atlanta Indie Fest w/ DONNIS as the headliner (recent XXL Freshman)
Tom P performs at the Atlanta Indie Fest thrown by Cobra Corps, Greedmont Park, SMKA and others. A bunch of local talent was also on the bill including recent XXL Freshman pick: Donnis. Tom P performed music off of his newest album "Root for the Underdog" for one of the first times since he dropped the album. Other rappers who appear on the bill are Gripplyaz, Hollyweerd and Mach Five.

"I fucking dig Tom P"
"The right amount of boastfulness; the right amount of weed smoke; the right amount of ATL & Decatur, the right amount of humor…and yes Tom P, not that you need us to confirm…but the right amount of swagger. I fucking dig Tom P…he fits my style and he’ll probably fit yours too. I think a good rapper is a master of language and words; a master of vocabulary, both intellectual and street. I think an even better rapper is a master not only of words and language, but of syllables and alliteration. Tom P has all of those things. His flow is hard to match and unique, switching between really fast, syllable focused alliteration and an old school flow with a concentration on rhyming words. His demeanor is flawless. In the tradition of Bone Thugs he spits rapid rhymes but always manages to bring it back to what only he can describe best…”old school, new school cross-pollination…”
Tom P. is clever enough to have his self promotion take a back, but just prominent enough seat to his particular take on rhyming. That’s something that I can respect and get behind. He stays true to his roots throughout the album and never strays far from his message of self introspection and promotion of his good times, bad times lifestyle, filled with all the rapper glory of drinking, smoking and fucking a lot…and all the rapper adversities of paranoia, danger and regret. Don’t let that take away from his originality, however. He has a clever take on rap and I think Tom P is headed places. His subjects are sharp and full of wit as he touches on topics such as lost love, picking friends before girlfriends and my favorite….the complexity and dual identity of being in pursuit of a dream (in his case, being a famous rapper) and having to get there by waiting tables or working the dreaded “day job.”

Tom P Root for the underdog album release
Tom P releases his second album "Root for the underdog" with a huge show downtown. Over 1,000 people were in attendance and the album was a hit! The album Featured 14 new songs, all professionally mixed and mastered at Music House studios and featuring some of Atlanta's hottest up and coming talent. Root for the Underdog was Tom P's way of kicking the door in and proving that he was a force to be reckoned with.

Atlanta rapper Tom P kicks it with Krazy Bone on tour in Charlotte NC
