Tom P's "The Preacher's Kid" release party - Atlanta hip hop

Tom P live in Atlanta The Preachers Kid album release

Not only did The Preachers Kid chart on iTunes (pretty amazing for a COMPLETELY INDIE artist) but the party / show Tom P threw to celebrate had a great turn out on the same day Tom P was featured in Atlanta's largest press "Creative Loafing" with a full article. Here are a few pictures from Tom P's live performance. Read more about this on Tom P's official website and check out snippets from Tom P's new album here. The album features 14 tracks and appearances from Atlanta rappers Rittz, Trinidad James, Jarren Benton, Playboy Tre, BIGREC and Gripplyaz. It also features vocals from Alexandria Lushington and Danny Boone from the group Rehab.

Tom P headlines "The Soap Box" after opening for B.O.B at UNCW. 2 shows 1 night.

As I was saying in my previous post, we had a show booked at UNCW, performing at a spot called "The Soap Box." I found out B.O.B was performing the same night down the street at the campus itself. So, I hit him and Tre up to see if I could come do some songs since I would already be in the area. Shit worked out and we ended up rocking out for a packed gymnasium full of college kids and got to plug our gig on stage while we were at it. Obviously, the first was crazier than ours, but it was still a pretty good turn out and the people who came all seemed to have a good time. Afterwards we all went out to party in Wilmington and had some good times. Here's a few pictures I could find from the occasion.

Jarren Bentons album release party

Local Atlanta rapper Jarren Benton had his album release party at the 529 and invited Tom P to share his headlining set. They rocked their song "Fuck that Shit" off Jarren's new album "Huffing Glue with Hasselhoff" and then Tom P did a few tracks off his up coming project "Root for the Underdog." Watch the video here >

And some rare footage I found of our performance

Tom P and Paul T rock a sorority house party (for the hundredth time)

We got invited to rock a sorority party. We actually were doing a lot of this kind of thing around this time but there's no reason to clutter up a press kit with 25 frat/sorority type parties. So I'll just use this one to represent the time period. I remember it well. We performed from on top of a balcony, looking down at the crowd. Here's a photo we snapped of that. Might be the only photo from this period of time that I can find.

Tom P Root for the underdog album release

Tom P releases his second album "Root for the underdog" with a huge show downtown. Over 1,000 people were in attendance and the album was a hit! The album Featured 14 new songs, all professionally mixed and mastered at Music House studios and featuring some of Atlanta's hottest up and coming talent. Root for the Underdog was Tom P's way of kicking the door in and proving that he was a force to be reckoned with.

I would also like to point out for the hell of it that we had over 1,000 people confirmed for this event on Facebook. I rarely see that… even with major signed acts. Boom > https://www.facebook.com/events/120382597988272/ I couldn't believe Facebook still had this archived.. thats kinda scary actually..

Atlanta Loft - Tom P live hip hop show

Tom P, Atlanta rapper live at teen party at the loftTeen party in Atlanta! We wrapped up 2009 strong with three shows basically back to back. We rocked a pretty dope show thrown by Bankrupt records at the Masquerade earlier in the week, then a packed house at MJQ the night before we were booked for this.

It was at The Loft which is one of Atlanta's larger venues. I've seen some pretty big acts there. Later on in my story I will end up opening for Techn9ne there for the first time which is how I met him and what later led to us touring with him and Machine Gun Kelly in 2012.

Anyway, this night was a lot of fun. The place was packed but it was definitely a young ass crowd, and when I say young, I mean like, 13-17 year olds. At one point a bunch of girls hopped on stage and started grinding all over Paul and I as you can see in this picture..
We just kept things rolling, but the grins Paul and I have in this picture are priceless. Too bad its another awesome show - shitty picture I remember us looking at each other like…. what the fuck… hahaha.

My little brother was with us at this show though and at the time he was only 16 or 17 so he was basically already.

The footage is not great but you can see sort of see how the crowd. Not sure what the fuck is up with all this red stage light… I guess we used to let anything fly back in the day. We decided to rock our version of "All the way Turnt up!" though and the crowd went crazy.

Tom P opens for Killer Mike on Halloween rap Show in Atlanta

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year and doing a show with Killer Mike dressed as Super Man was the perfect way to celebrate. Unfortunately I couldn't find any pictures from this. Who knows, maybe some will turn up.

Tom P throws his first album release party for "self titled"

It was time to do an official release party for my self titled album. We went back to the warehouse where we had thrown a few shows before. My buddy TmcG got some awesome footage of the night and put it into a montage starting with us setting up the event leading to the chaos that ensued, set to my new song "Southern City Boys" watch that here >

We went a little overboard on this one. Check out more on my official website. Tom P album release party in Atlanta. I basically ended up throwing an indoor music festival. Not only did I headline the festival, but I also handled all the organization and promotions, hired stage hands, bartenders, sound guys, lighting people, an Atlanta cop to stand at the door, extra security and even rented porta potties.

Although, I did bring out well over 1,000 fans and the night was a huge success.

Atlanta rapper Tom P headlines show and brings out 1,000 fans

Atlanta rapper Tom P headlines show and brings out 1,000 fansIt was a crazy wind down to the end of the year. We had 3 shows this week alone, all while this massive party at a warehouse was looming over us  that we were headlining. For this show, I organized most of the evenings attributes. I hired the opening acts, rented the sound equipment, hired bartenders, bought 10 kegs, promoted and headlined the show on top of everything else.. However, we did get nearly 1,000 people through the door for our show. We were a little understaffed though so my buddy Matt Pelosi had to run the sound and at one point Paul even had to sell beer tickets. Shit worked out though. If you were there that night, you know how dope that shit was and this was just the beginning!

FUN FACT: Does anyone remember "The GS Boys" they had that one shitty song "The Stanky Leg" that somehow got halfway popular for half of a second in 2008. They were basically trying to piggy back off of Soulja Boy's recent momentum of simplicity coupled with a dance and instructional lyrics of how to do it yourself. There was a lot of these at that time… I remember one called "Crank my Yank." I guess it was about jerking off in the club, I dunno… but anyway, I think it was a pretty local movement and fortunately for a lot of you did not make it across the entire country but if you were anywhere near the South East, you  most likely heard this song at some point and even saw some frat boys dancing to it.

Anyway, if you look in the back of this video you will see the big lit up back drop saying "THE GS BOYS." (Which is probably what they spent half of their signing bonus on since we never heard much from them after this song came out. Despite its popularity, I don't think a single person in Atlanta would know if they were standing next to one of these guys at a Kroger.) Now look up in my photos, notice anything? The same warehouse where they shot this horrible video, we threw an awesome fucking party and put on a great show. I guarantee more people in this city remember that show than that crap ass song, which should say something about the game I think… take notes "powers that be!"
