Once a year they do an issue called "The Freshman" where they put 10 rappers on the cover who they believe will have a big year based off of their current buzz. One of the prerequisites, according to XXL's website, to be a Freshman is to have appeared in "The Breaks."
Tom P, who is generally considered the most slept on southern rapper in history despite his high amount of buzz, lyrical abilities and die hard fan base, finally got a little recognition from the hip hop magazine. Fans of Tom P took to social media to ask why Tom P has not been considered for the XXL Freshman issue. XXL has yet to respond but they need to do what we tell everyone to do.
